All-
I’m super excited to announce today that longtime friend, colleague and all around superstar in the Microsoft technology space, Kevin Sullivan, is joining SDM Software today as Vice President of Product Management and Business Development. Kevin was most recently Director of Sales Engineering with the great folks at Specops Software. Before that, Kevin held a variety of positions at Microsoft, after the company he worked for, DesktopStandard, was acquired by Microsoft. You might know DesktopStandard as the folks that brought us GP Preferences and AGPM! In fact, part of the time Kevin was at MS, he was THE guy for Group Policy, leading that product team as Principal Program Manager Lead.
I first met Kevin when I was CTO for Windows Management solutions at Quest Software. He was a Sales Engineer and Product Manager at Aelita–a company we acquired back in 2004. At the time I was immediately impressed by his calm demeanor and logical approach to software problems. He was instrumental at the time in helping us resolve the many overlaps in products that the two companies had. Since then, I’ve had many opportunities to interact with Kevin– at conferences, Microsoft MVP Summits and other industry events. It was at this year’s Ignite Conference where, after spending several enjoyable hours over good food and wine and chatting about our respective views of the industry, that I had the idea to ask Kevin to join SDM. I couldn’t more pleased that he said yes!
Kevin will be helping us on multiple fronts, as is consistent with his many talents– in the areas of product management and business development. What that means is that as SDM continues to deliver on it’s strategy of creating world-class configuration management solutions, Kevin will be an integral part of our vision and execution. We have a lot of exciting ideas around the future of configuration management, not just within the realm of Group Policy but in other areas that you will start to see us deliver on later this year. And I look forward to Kevin and I working together to deliver on those ideas.
And before I end, I want to just mention on a more personal note, that Kevin is not only a brilliant techie, but also an accomplished musician, father and family man. We look forward to him forming the nucleus of our US East Coast presence, from his office near Boston, Massachusetts. Please join me in welcoming Kevin to SDM, and make sure you drop a line to him and say hi to him on Twitter at @kevsully67 when you get a chance!
