Hello! If I uncheck the box for “bbPress Digest Emails”, will I get emails as soon as a new post occurs? Or, is digest mode the only option for this site? If it is, please also consider having an option to send email immediately.

Agreed. This forum feels dead since we went to daily emails.May 21, 2013 at 9:09 am #12869
The best way to get notified when any emails are sent to the GPTalk forum, is to add the RSS feed for the forum to your email client. This is what I do and I get notified right away when there’s a new post. The RSS feed address is http://gpoguy.com/group-policy-forums/forum/gptalk/rss
I agree that since moving to the forum from the Listserv, things have been too quiet. I wish there was a better way but the RSS approach simulates the Listserv as close as possible.

Thanks. I don’t believe that I can set up RSS feeds on my phone though. In any case, if we can get support for this in the future, it would be very helpful. Another thing that I noticed is that for some reason, Outlook 2013 doesn’t make the links I get in the digest email as hyperlinks and so I have to manually copy and paste the links into a browser to view a thread.

When subscribed to a thread, it appears that it immediately sends notifications to your email address. Is there a way where we can automatically subscribe to all threads as they are created, as well as existing ones by perhaps subscribing to the “GPTalk Forum” directly (so that we are subscribed by inheritance)?

Yea once you are on a thread, you get notified. I did try to find a way to automatically “inherit” subscriptions from the top of the forum but at the moment, the only option I’ve found is the RSS feed.

Hello Darren! I just realized that this forum moved since my email client kept reporting errors connecting via RSS to the old gpoguy.com 🙂 Is there a new RSS feed page to replace http://gpoguy.com/group-policy-forums/forum/gptalk/rss? I did find a “Subscribe” button on the main “GPTalk Forum” page, so I’ll soon find out if it will notify me of new posts.

Sorry for the delay. Yes! The new RSS URL is http://sdmsoftware.com/forums/forum/gptalk/rss

Thanks – that worked. It appears though that the subscription option on the Blog is working as expected since I appear to be getting emails for all new posts (this wasn’t working on the old blog).
