Tagged: GPO Backup
I was just looking your Best Practices for Group Policy Deployment and Management course on Pluralsight and I remembered something.
At one point I was thinking of doing the obvious by creating a PS script that would back up GPOs at a certain interval, using Task Scheduler.
Very simple script (example):
Backup-GPO -All -Path C:\GPO_Backups\ -Comment “2019.06.29”
But then I found out that GPOs can only be backed up by Domain Admins, I’m NOT going to run Scheduled Tasks with DA credentials.
Are there other options to achieve this, in a secure fashion? Other than manually backing them up.
Why do you believe that you need domain admin access to backup GPOs? You should be able to do it with Read Access.
